Our Story
What began as a dream in the basement of a bar on 1st Avenue in 2005 has emerged into something far greater than we could ever imagine...
With a vision to see lives, neighborhoods and our city renewed, we have not only set our hearts on a mission and established a set of values that we believe will align us with the heart of God, we have committed to asking God to lead us and you to join us so that this dream can become a reality.
It is our hope that you would connect like-minded people to serve our loving God so that our world can be renewed.
Our community is built on a network of smaller communities (small groups) that meet throughout the city, then gather weekly to celebrate what God is doing in the lives of His people.
We began on the East Side in 2005, expanded to the Upper West Side in 2009, have plans to begin a neighborhood location in Brooklyn by 2012, and seek to reproduce faith communities throughout New York City.
Our community is comprised of urban professionals, artists, young families, and students who seek to live out the teachings of Jesus in the context of the city.
Every single person is welcome to join us — regardless of your past, background, religion, race, gender, sexual orientation — we believe that God created you on purpose and with gifts that will help make the world a better place. I hope you’ll join us.
Our name reflects our desire to lead others in reaching their God-given dreams for this world.

Forefront is part of the NewThing Network, which seeks to be a catalyst for a movement of reproducing churches all over the world.
Forefront is also part of the Orchard Group, which is committed to reproducing churches in urban centers in the United States.
Forefront is united with the churches of New York City to bring about spiritual awakening in our city. Dozens of churches and hundreds of people have committed to praying every Wednesday at noon for God to renew our city. If you’d like to join us in prayer, just stop everything you’re doing on Wednesdays at noon and ask for God to move in incredible ways.
